VMS's Rigel LED technology is the first display system designed to meet and exceed the stringent optical performance standards demanded by European Standard EN 12966 and UK Highways Agency TR2516B.

The benefits of Rigel are offered in a variety of highway, urban transport, and rail applications providing fixed and mobile messaging products and complete system solutions.

VMS has its own in-house UKAS accredited optical laboratory
- the only manufacturer to have such a facility - which supports continuous development projects at the cutting edge of LED technology.

  Design and development

VMS products share more than a technology platform - they all benefit from a philosophy of 'design for maintenance.'

Our in-house teams use state-of-the-art CAD systems for product design and development, and from the outset they adopt ease of maintenance as a key element of all product features. Combined with proven and reliable LED technology, design for maintenance delivers both efficiency and value for money.

Our 3D CAD system is not only key to our rapid product development programmes, but is also used to support our customers in helping them to visualise there ideas. We can very quickly render high resolution images of concepts for new products and even show them in there planned locations.

  Software engineering

Software engineering is a vital part of our business and, in most cases, we will engineer circuit design and custom program software to fit the application. All products are rigorously tested before release.

Our own System Integration software is TRAMS, a Windows® based software package that works with standard desktop PCs and enables us to easily configure and tune bespoke solutions to meet specific traffic management needs. It provides clear and concise information to aid network capacity optimisation and is suitable for use in an extensive range of systems for both strategic and urban applications, including UTMC.
